Business Development Lead (Fractional)
US-based Remote
About the Company
Our client is a strategic intelligence advisory firm that helps leaders make sound decisions where emerging technology, national security, geopolitical risk, and commercial strategy intersect.
The Role
The company is expanding its commercial practice and seeking a senior, fractional business development leader to originate engagements with private-sector clients facing national security, geopolitical, and regulatory risk. There is no established pipeline to inherit, so this person will help shape which markets the firm pursues and how its offerings are positioned. Target segments include dual-use and emerging tech, biotech and life sciences, private equity and venture capital, law firms, and advanced manufacturing and critical infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Originate and close advisory engagements, owning each opportunity from first conversation to signed scope.
- Work with the founder and senior advisors to shape offerings, pricing, and proposals.
- Represent the company at executive gatherings and industry events.
- Maintain a disciplined pipeline and share market insights with leadership.
What We're Looking For
- A proven track record originating advisory or professional services revenue, ideally in risk, intelligence, legal, cybersecurity, or strategy consulting.
- Ability to explain national security and geopolitical risk in terms commercial buyers understand.
- Comfort working independently in a lean firm without a set playbook.
- Discretion appropriate to sensitive client matters.
- Familiarity with CFIUS, export controls, or government contracting is a plus, but not required.
Engagement Structure
Fractional role with a flexible time commitment. Commission-based compensation tied to originated, closed revenue. Remote friendly, with periodic travel to Philadelphia, Washington, and client events.
