Ergo is a consulting and forecasting firm that provides geopolitical analysis and intelligence to governments, hedge funds, law firms, and multinational corporations. We work with the world’s leading experts to help our clients understand and make better decisions on the most pressing global issues. The topics we cover include the Middle East, Russia-Ukraine war, US-China relations, Federal Reserve policy, and the 2024 election cycle, to name a few.
Ergo seeks an intern to assist with monitoring these and other topics. Interns will also have opportunities to research complex geopolitical events, provide written updates for our clients, and work directly with experts who have held top positions in the intelligence community, the National Economic Council, the State Department, foreign governments, and more.
This is a remote position with the option to work out of our office in New York. We are seeking a minimum commitment of 2 hours per day (M-F) for media monitoring. Preference will be given to candidates who can work an additional 1-3 full days per week (9am-6pm EST) to assist with other projects. This internship goes through mid-December, with the potential to extend through the spring. This position is remunerated at $16/hour or through course credit.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor 10-15 geopolitical issues across major US news sources, foreign outlets, social media, and other sources (2 hours per day, Monday-Friday).
- Summarize geopolitical developments clearly and concisely for the Ergo team.
- Analyze how new developments impact Ergo’s ongoing analysis and determine which events are important to clients and to Ergo’s research.
- Conduct in-depth background research, lead calls with experts, and put together written updates on these issues.
- Assist with a range of other projects, including product innovation, marketing materials, scenario methodology analysis, and more.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have completed or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis on international affairs. Previous internship or work experience in policy, consulting, risk analysis, sell-side research, government, or international business is a plus. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in international affairs, economic issues, emerging markets, and business dynamics. Self-starters with demonstrated passion and drive are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must have:

- The ability to work well with a team
- Solid facility with Microsoft Office (familiarity with Adobe Design Suite is a plus)
- A minimum GPA of 3.5 in college and/or grad school
