About the team:
The Government Relations and Public Policy team covers a wide range of responsibilities: government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships. The mission of the team is to earn trust and prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with Government, policymakers and key opinion leaders.
- Execute strategies for engaging with policymakers around issues important to TikTok and our community of creators.
- Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends and legislative proposals.
- Articulate policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings.
- Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, including PR, Legal, Product and Engineering, to align engagement efforts with TikTok’s broader strategic objectives.
- Establish and maintain meaningful relationships and deliver innovative projects with industry associations, academia and NGOs and drive long-term impact on the sustainability efforts of the company.
- Represent the company at external events to identify and unlock opportunities, build networks and establish TikTok as the most trusted brand.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- - Direct experience in Public Policy and/or Government Relations and Advocacy work.
- Knowledge of the legislative process and tech policy.
- Language proficiency: Business proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking in English & Nepali is desired based on regional requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience working at a global technology company or international organization.
- Previous advocacy experience, including the ability to analyze and communicate business implications of public policy.
- Outstanding writing skills and ability to distill complex policy issues into simple explanations and compelling messages.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills.
