Foreign Policy Analytics, the independent research and advisory division of Foreign Policy, is seeking a full-time Senior Policy and Research Analyst to join our research team. The Senior Policy and Research Analyst will conduct quantitative and qualitative research and perform data analytics to generate insights and actionable intelligence for our clients and partners. The Senior Policy and Research Analyst will also be responsible for drafting proprietary and public-facing reports and presentations, as well as developing crisis simulations. The Senior Policy Analyst will
- Conduct desktop and primary research and analysis as needed across a range of international policy issues and sectors, with a particular focus on emerging technology, cybersecurity, and geopolitical risk
- Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, market dynamics, and geopolitical risks pertaining to a range of industries, notably technology, and geographic regions, such as the Asia-Pacific
- Analyze global and regional trends in political economy and international security
- Collect, analyze, and visualize data from a range of sources; conduct economic trend analyses; statistical analysis
- Produce rapid response briefs on breaking policy issues
- Prepare client presentations, policy briefs, and in-depth reports
- Participate in internal review of research drafts
- Mutually support and peer mentor team members
Skills And Qualifications
- Graduate Degree (e.g. MA, MPP, MS, Ph.D.) in political science, international relations, economics, or public policy
- Proven track record of high-quality qualitative and quantitative research, analytical rigor, and attention to detail
- Prior project management experience, scoping, and leading research projects
- Excellent English Language writing abilities; proven track record of producing clear, concise, and compelling analysis
- Comfortable presenting and interacting with senior executives
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and on or under budget
- Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including manipulating large datasets and data visualization
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in analytics, performing exploratory data analysis, and drafting reports relevant to international affairs
- Exceptional ability to intuit, understand and clearly communicate the meaning of data analyses in a concise, compelling manner
- Programming and coding experience (R, Python, STATA, etc.) is a plus
- Non-English language skills are a plus
- Eligibility to work in the United States
The salary range for this role is: $75,000-$83,000 annually.

Working at Foreign Policy
We are located in Washington, D.C., and for this role, we have a preference for candidates in the D.C. area. D.C.-based staff are currently working from the office at least one day a month, with all U.S.-based staff convening in D.C. three times a year. FP staff members are encouraged to take advantage of our “One Month From Anywhere” program to work from the location of their choice for one month each year.
