The Role
Reporting to senior leadership and collaborating with colleagues across the firm's global network, this Associate Director will manage client engagements, oversee project delivery, and drive analytical excellence across the Asia-Pacific region. Responsibilities include scoping and executing due diligence mandates, managing source networks, and producing high-quality intelligence analysis that helps clients assess counterparty risk, integrity concerns, and political exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial due diligence and counterparty intelligence engagements from scoping through to final delivery
- Define investigative focus areas including commercial, regulatory, and political risk dimensions relevant to each mandate
- Design and execute source engagement and interviewing strategies across the region
- Assess and synthesize complex intelligence, evaluating source credibility and weighing reported findings
- Produce clear, well-reasoned written analysis for senior client audiences
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior team members
- Contribute to business development through opportunity identification and proposal support
Required Qualifications
- Graduate degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in strategic consultancy, commercial intelligence, or a closely related advisory field
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess corporate governance structures, value chains, regulatory exposure, and sector-specific risk profiles
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings to senior client stakeholders
- Proven team management and project oversight experience, typically 2–3 years in each
- Deep interest in and knowledge of Asian politics, business, and current affairs
- Cultural fluency across diverse regional markets with the ability to navigate varying business practices and expectations
- Ability to work autonomously under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Fluency in a second Asian language is advantageous — Vietnamese, Mandarin, Indonesian/Malay, Thai, Japanese, or Korean of particular interest
