The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for an Associate / Senior Associate, Southeast Asia. This role will be based in Singapore/ Kuala Lumpur.

The Associate / Senior Associate is a core execution-focused member of TAG’s Southeast Asia practice, supporting client delivery, political and regulatory analysis, and partner-led business development across Singapore, Malaysia, and the broader region. The role emphasizes high-quality analytical output, disciplined project execution, and clear written communication in support of senior colleagues and client engagements. Over time, the Associate / Senior Associate is expected to take on increasing responsibility and autonomy within defined workstreams as well as to start to specialize in 1-2 industry sectors.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, business, political science, public policy, economics, law or a related field required. Graduate degree in relevant field preferred.
- Associate: typically, 2–4 years of relevant professional experience; Senior Associate: typically 4–7 years.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with an ability to deliver clear, polished outputs under tight deadlines.
- Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office and major AI LLM platforms
- Professional fluency in spoken and written English; Southeast Asia regional language capability is a plus.
- Experience working in or with Southeast Asian markets, whether in the private sector, government, or civil society, is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following sectors is a plus: Consumer Goods & Retail, Defense, Digital, Energy, Environment, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Media and/or Technology.

Job Responsibilities
Client Servicing and Project Delivery
- Support client engagements across Singapore, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia, including political, regulatory, industry and market analysis.
- Produce clear, high quality, client-ready outputs including reports, briefing notes, memos, presentations, weekly and ad hoc updates, and executive summaries.
- Support preparation for client calls, briefings, workshops, and executive engagements.
- Manage assigned workstreams, timelines, and deliverables under senior supervision, ensuring TAG quality standards.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively flag emerging developments that may affect their operating environment.
Research, Analysis, and Market Intelligence
- Monitor political, economic, regulatory and industry developments across priority Southeast Asian markets which would including Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines while also working closely with colleagues in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and industry/issue-specific political risk analysis.
- Synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights for senior corporate audiences.
- Constantly deepen understanding of the government institutions, regulators, and political dynamics that shape the Singapore, Malaysia and Philippine markets.
Business Development and Thought Leadership
- Support proposal development, including client research and drafting.
- Contribute to regional thought leadership products, market briefs, and internal knowledge development.
- Identify and track emerging issues and trends relevant to client demand.
- Produce high-quality, accurate and timely Flash Analysis for TAG AI
- Draft, edit, and publish social media posts for internal and external audiences.
Internal Coordination and Team Support
- Coordinate closely with colleagues across TAG offices especially in TAG Southeast Asia offices in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam as well as with colleagues covering Southeast Asia in TAG’s Washington, DC headquarters to assist with integrated client delivery.
- Support internal task tracking, workflow coordination, and delivery discipline across projects.
- Provide operational assistance for client and TAG partner visits, events and senior-level meetings, conferences and seminars across Southeast Asia.
- Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Analysts or interns, as appropriate.
- Undertake special projects or duties as required.
Scope and Role Parameters
The role is execution-oriented and operates under the direction of senior team members. It does not carry independent country leadership, regional management responsibility, or primary business development ownership. Success in the role is defined by analytical rigor, reliability, judgment, and consistent delivery of high-quality client support.
